Dr Pankaj Jain

dr jainDr Jain, MBBS(Hons), PhD, FRACP, is an academic interventional cardiologist with appointments at Royal Prince Alfred, Concord, and Macquarie University Hospitals. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, and Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. His interests include complex coronary and structural heart interventions, and mechanical support devices for heart failure. 

Dr Jain completed his undergraduate degree at the University of New South Wales, graduating with Honours, and Cardiology training at St Vincents Hospital, Sydney. He subsequently undertook a PhD, supported by scholarships from the National Health and Medical Research Council and National Heart Foundation, for which he won the UNSW Dean’s Award and St Vincent’s Clinical School Prizes for Outstanding Thesis. He completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, during which he was awarded the prestigious Geoff Mews Interventional Fellows’ Prize. This was followed by an interventional fellowship at Tufts Medical Centre, Boston, where he gained experience with a range of cutting-edge technologies and techniques.

He has active pre-clinical and clinical research programs with over 30 peer-reviewed publications, and is lead investigator on a multicentre, MRFF-funded study aiming to improve systems of care and equity for patients with life-threatening heart failure.
